Welcome to Salou Music Festival
The Young Philharmonic Orchestra of Catalonia - JOFICAT - was born as an integral and transversal academic project pioneering in our country: a Permanent Orchestral Academy for young people between the ages of 16 and 24.
The JOFICAT offers a personalized and systematized teaching aimed at the professionalization of the unpublished orchestral practice in Catalonia at the moment, distributed equally in the four Catalan demarcations: Tarragona, Lérida, Gerona and Barcelona.

The Catalan guitarist Izan Rubio began his studies with important teachers of Catalonia. In 2012 he graduated with Laura Young (Canada) at the Catalan School of Music and currently holds a postgraduate degree in interpretation at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg (Austria).
He has obtained different awards as a concert performer: Best Music Performance by Miquel Llobet, Best Catalan Interpreter and Third Prize at Miquel Llobet Competition (2016), Second Prize at the Josep Ferrer Competition in Girona (2015), Best Rated Catalan and tour with Joventudes Musicales de Catalunya at the Miquel Llobet International Guitar Competition (2014), third ex-aequo prize in the contest for the Arjau Foundation's musical performance for young people ", Prize City of Berga, with the duo formed with Ivan Portolés.
He has played in emblematic sites of the Catalan geography like the Catalan Modernism Museum, the Gaudí Crypt, the Guitar Festival of Girona, the Roman Temple of Vic, Las Garrigas, etc. He has participated in TV program La Sonora and in various film projects and videogames soundtracks.
She graduated in cello from the Kazan Conservatory of Music and developed a brilliant concert activity all over Europe. She performing at prestigious music festivals, where she received a shouting ovation from public and critics.
He won several national and international awards of great prestige. In the 1990s he completed a Master's degree at Trinity College of Music and formalized his studies at "Reina Sofia" Superior School of Music in Madrid. He has performed as a soloist with such prestigious formations as the Kazan Philharmonic Orchestra, the Concert Society Orchestra of Barcelona, the Bromley Festival Orchestra, the Vallés Symphony Orchestra, the Barcelona Simfonieta and the Rivne State Philharmonic Orchestra, among others.
Currently is Professor at AIM - International Music Academy in Barcelona.
The young harpist Laia Barberà has studied at the Conservatorio Municipal de Música de Barcelona and has performed important masterclasses such as the harp course with Christine Icart, Isabelle Perrin, Gwyneth Wentik and Remy Van Kesteren.
She has been soloist of JOFICAT and has collaborated with other young orchestras such as JOSB, JOC, JOSC and JONC. In spite of his youth, she has won several prizes, including the first prize in the BBVA individual talent contest, the Arpaplus prize and the prize of best interpreter in Girona.
Born in Palma de Mallorca, where he began his guitar studies with the Professor Pere Fiol. Later he moved to Barcelona to continue his education, as a pupil of Maria de Lluc Coli. He studied at the Luthier School with the teacher Sadahiro Otani and, later, the Higher Degree of Interpretation at the Conservatory of Music of the Liceu, under the tutelage of Guillem Pérez-Quer.
He has performed concerts and recitals around Spain and is a member of the Guitar Quartet Figueral and the Vounó Duo, along with Ferran Planas (guitar - saxo). He has performed on several occasions as a soloist directed by Jordi Montoliu with the Chamber Orchestra of Sabadell and has also been soloist along with Jose Galeote in the Palau de la Música accompanied by the Orchestra Filharmonía Iberia, directed by Cesario Costa.
He has received masterclasses from renowned professors such as Carles Trepat, Leo Brouwer, Michel Grizard and Yorgos Arguiriadis, among others.
He is currently a guitar teacher at the Pia de Sabadell School, the Fusió School of Music in Sant Cugat and the AIMB - Barcelona International Music Academy.
MARTA VARA - OBOÈ She started his musical studies at age of 6 years old and studied at the Conservatorio Municipal de Música de Lérida and later at the ESMUC. She received masterclasses from Jaime González Domenique Orlando, Fabien Thouand and Klauss König. He has participated in several professional and young orchestras, among them JONC, JOP, JOIC, the Municipal Music Band of Lérida, the OBC, the Julià Carbonell Orchestra. She won several Chamber Music awards between 2005 and 2007 and participated in several international music festivals. She currently studies at the University and plays with Jamin quintet . She is Professor at Cornellá Municipal School of Music and the BCN Fusión School.
EDMON BOSCH - Violoncel
Edmon Bosch is a Catalonian cellist, born in 1991. He started with the cello at the age of 4 years old and finished his studies at the Conservatory of Igualada. He is currently studying at the Barcelona International Academy. Among his works are his performances in institutional events in the field of FC Barcelona or forming part of the Orchestra Young Interpreters of Catalonia, directed by Salvador Brotons. The sensitivity and versatility of Edmon Bosch leads him to participate in many projects.

Melani Mestre studied at the Barcelona Municipal Superior Conservatory of Music, continuing in London with renowned Russian pedagogue Sulamita Aronovsky (piano) and Sir Colin Davis (conductor).
Since his debut with the Dortmund Festival Orchestra in 1998, he has collaborated with some of the best orchestras in the world, as soloist pianist and as conductor, as: London Symphony Orchestra, London Philharmonic Orchestra, New York Philharmonic Orchestra, New York Philharmonic Orchestra, Gdansk Baltic Philharmonic Orchestra, Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra, Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra, Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra, Moscow Symphony Orchestra, National Symphony Orchestra of Cuba, Rumanian National Philharmonic Orchestra, Bulgarian National Symphony Orchestra, Kazan Philharmonic Orchestra, Iasi Philharmonic Orchestra, Pilsen Radio Symphony Orchestra, Brno Philharmonic Orchestra, Bari Symphony Orchestra, Orquestra Clasica do Sul (Orquestra do Algarve - Portugal), etc. . Melani Mestre has performed concerts and performances in most of the European geography, performing in the best concert halls in Spain, Europe, as well as in the United States.

The quartet was born in2010 under the initiative of guitarist Juan R. Arceo with the goal to mix classical music with jazz. Currently is composed by:
Juan Ramon Arceo Garcia, guitar soloist and director Classicjazz Quartet.He was born in Guadalajara (Jalisco, Mexico). He studied at the Folkwang Hochschule Musik (Escuela Superior de Música) in the city of Essen (Germany) and with Amadeus Guitar Duoand with the famous guitarist Ricardo Gallén. He offered numerous concerts in Spain, Germany, Mexico, Morocco, Portugal and France. Currently resides in Cataluña and he is classical guitar professor at the Music School of the plane, and Cruz Alta in Sabadell. He manage "The guitar Concierto" Can Portabella in Sant Andreu, Barcelona.
Carlos Picón, piano. He studied with the piano masterpiece Nuria Fàbregas and at the Liceo Conservatory under the tutelage of Olga and Kharitonina Tnesy Krismant.
Carles Rambla, He studied with Mario Rossi and Ferran Sala. He is soloist of Symphony Orchestra of San Cugat del Vallés.

Piano and violin duo who was born in Ukraine and Spain with the goal to dicover the repertoire of the most representative composers of the musical nationalities of both countries, as Enrique Granados, Enric Morera, Pau Casals, Victor Kosenko, Mykola Lysenko, Stanislav Lyudkievich, among many others.
They have played in some of the most important places of Europe, Mexico and South America.
She studied in Madrid, with the soprano Isabel Penagos and in the Escuela Superior de Canto with Manuel Cid.
She has assisted at master classes with Peter Harrison, Elena Obratzsova, Wolfram Rieger, Robert Expert, Miguel Zanetti, Victoria de los Angeles and Carlos Chausson. She won a Youth Musical Spanish Prize and started his career as soloist with Dido and Aeneas opera.
She played in Spain, Germany, Sweden, Switzerland and Mexico. Currently she also participates in important festivals and with Gran Teatro del Liceu in Barcelona.
He studied at the Conservatory of Music of Liceo in Barcelona with the guitarist and composer Jaume Torrent, and he did MasterClass with the Professors Carles Trepat, Ignacio Rodes, Ricardo Gallen, William Waters and Armando Marrosu among others. He has played in diferent Festivals as: International Guitar Festival of Sant Cugat, Ciclo de conciertos Chamber of Fomento Mataroní cycles "Picasso and Barcelona," fever in the Parks, and the Palace Catalan Music. He has been directed by directors like Jordi Montoliu (Sabadell Chamber Orchestras), Jordi Picorelli (Coral Joncar). He is currently Guitar Professor at the AIMB (International Music Academy in Barcelona) and Professor in EscuelaPia of Sabadell.
This duo is composed by two interpreters very committed to the panorama of creation, seeking to understand each music in its essence and trying to make it more authentic. Both interpreters, who are both composers, want to make their voice heard, generating charges to composers, Recordings and workshops of current techniques, always combining it with the great works that the formation possesses. As a duo they have recently performed in the Auditorio de la Caixa in Sabadell and in the Luthier House in Barcelona.
The international Salzburg Guitar Trio was created in 2016 by Andrew Booth (England), Katie Lonson (Canada) and Izan Rubio (Spain). In only a few months they have received the first prize in the IX edition of the contest "Corelli-Savarez Chamber Music Competition ". The trio is composed of:
Andrew Booth is one of the most promising young guitarists in England. Graduated with honors at the Royal Northern College of Music, Manchester under the tutelage of Gordon Crosskey and Craig Ogden. He later completed his master's degree under the guidance of Zoran Dukic at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague. He has obtained recognitions of the Musicians' Benevolent Fund, the Countess of Munster Trust and the first permission in the soundscape Festival, in Maccagno (Italy).
The Canadian guitarist Katie Lonson, develops her artistic career obtaining the German Diploma in Artistic Interpretation as a soloist and later the Master in Interpretation as soloist in the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst in Stuttgart under the Guardianship of the renowned Johannes Monno and Sofia Kaltchev. She is currently pursuing a postgraduate course with Professor Laura Young at the Universität Mozarteum in Salzburg, Austria. As a soloist she has received numerous awards such as the first prize at the Medicine Hat Music Festival and the Calgary Kiwanis Music Festival, as well as the Alberta Provincial Music Festival and the Canadian Music Competition.
Izan Rubio completed his studies of Superior Degree in the Superior School of Music of Catalonia with Laura Young as one of the most outstanding students and later specialized. With a master's degree by the acclaimed guitarist Zoran Dukic. He is currently pursuing his postgraduate studies at the Universität Mozarteum in Salzburg (Austria). As soloist he has performed in emblematic places of Catalan geography, arriving to realize two tours of concerts with Juventudes Musicals. He has been awarded in different competitions such as the Josep Ferrer Guitar Contest (second prize), or the Fundació Arjau Music Contest. The most recent of his recognitions has been to obtain the third prize in the International Contest Miquel Llobet (2016, XIII edition).
