Salou Music Festival 2017

From 8th July to 15th August

From July 8 to August 15 will be the first edition of a unique Festival that wants to discover different places on the Costa Dorada through music.

Salou Music Festival is an important classical music event that will take place this summer in different places of the Costa Dorada, in its first edition, with the participation of Tarragona, Torredembarra, Santa Coloma de Queralt, Altafulla, Creixell, Montblanc, Roda de Berà, Vilanova d'Escornalbou, Valls, Cambils and Salou, epicenter of the event.

The Festival goals are:

- Promote classical music on the Costa Daurada, diversifying the leisure offer. Beyond the tourist epicenters, the Costa Dorada has beautiful interior areas. The Festival is a unique opportunity to live a high quality musical offer discovering these emblematic places.

- The Festival will be a meeting point for national and international performers who show their talent in concerts of chamber music and symphony, with the JOFICAT orchestra. The JOFICAT is a young pioneer orchestra in Catalonia, formed by young high level students..

- To associate Salou and the Costa Dorada as references of a high-quality musical offer. During more than 5 weeks more than 40 concerts will be offered characterized by offering proximity programs, open to all audiences.

Classical music arrives on the Costa Daurada from Salou Music Festival, an event that will offer a close, enjoyable and proximity program in spaces of great beauty, which will make the public vibrate for more than 5 weeks. A Festival that will feature symphonic concerts and chamber music and with performers such as cellists Svetlana Tovstukha and Edmon Bosch, harpist Laia Barberà, oboist Marta Vara, soprano Charo Tris, guitarists Izan Rubio, José Galeote, José Isidoro Ramos, Carles Hoyo and Françoise-Xavier Nicolet, the violinists Natalia Borysyuk and Manel Ribera, the pianist Melani Mestre, the Quartet Ibèric, Salzburg Guitar Trio, the ClassicJazz Quartet, the DuoTangozzola and the aforementioned JOFICAT, Jove Philharmonic Orchestra of Catalonia.

Salou Music Festival & Summer Academy is an event organized by Salou Music Festival Association, led by Melani Mestre.

Melani Mestre is a pianist, orchestra director and composer, Director of the International Academy of Music of Barcelona – AIMB – and of Salou Music Festival & Summer Academy.

Trained at Tarragona Conservatory and resident for over 30 years on the Costa Daurada, he has been director of such renowned formations as, among other, the London Symphony Orchestra, the New York Philharmonic, the Moscow Philharmonic Orchestra and the Mexico State Symphony Orchestra. In his Curriculum Vitae highlights being director of prestigious music festivals in Europe, as – for example- The International Festival Enescu (Bucharest), The International Music Festival d'Aveiro (Portugal) and The International Festival of Catalan Music in Barcelona.

He is, at the moment, directing the “Classica” concert season at the “Reial Cercle Artístic” in Barcelona, ​​with more than 50 concerts every year with a great success of public and critics, and the Young Philharmonic Orchestra of Catalonia and the Orchestra of the Society of Concerts of Barcelona, ​​with whom he has interpreted more than 80 concerts for piano and orchestra during the season 2015-2016.

The Association is created for professionals with a long experience in the creation of national and international festivals, as well as a long list of contacts of recognized prestige within the music industry, many of whom have been invited to take part in Salou Music Festival - 1st edition.
